The current legislation (DIN EN 60601-2-38) governing the manufacture, and issue of care beds will be superceded in 2010 by IEC 6062-2-52, which will enforce much more rigorous standards concerning the build, testing and manufacture of the very beds you specify. Side rails and entrapment issues are also covered in much more detail. If you want to see the new regulations, click on the icon on the left of this page.
Incredibly, even now, four beds already comply with this new directive and have done so since the beginning of 2008, allowing bed specifiers and purchasers to 'future proof' bed issues. The four beds which already comply are the Dali II, Allura 90, Allura 100 and Allura 120. The rest of the range will fall into line in 2009, way before the deadline.

Does the bed you presently specify match up? Not all community profiling beds match up to these standards. You can check to see if your present bed complies with all or any of these regulations by looking at its User Manual. This kind of info has to be displayed and is often shown either at the very front or the back of the manual.
